We Stand Behind Every Poco Koko Mat

When you buy a Poco Koko play mat, you're buying something designed to last through thousands of tummy-time sessions, crawling milestones, and toddler tumbles. We engineer our 1.3" memory foam, test our seams, and quality-check every zipper. If a manufacturing defect shows up during normal use, we'll make it right. This page explains exactly what that means — in plain English, no legalese.

Warranty Duration

Poco Koko play mats are covered by a 1-year limited warranty from the original date of purchase. The warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is non-transferable.

Proof of purchase (order number or receipt) is required for all warranty claims.

What's Covered

Our warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal indoor household use, including:

  • Foam compression greater than 15% within the warranty period — meaning the mat no longer returns to its original shape
  • Seam or stitching failure not caused by impact, cutting, or misuse
  • Zipper failure under normal opening and closing
  • Cover delamination — layers separating from each other
  • Defective non-slip backing — backing that fails to grip on standard household flooring out of the box
  • Printing or color defects present at delivery (must be reported within 30 days)

If any of the above happens and our inspection confirms a manufacturing defect, you're covered.

What's NOT Covered

To keep the warranty fair for everyone, we don't cover damage caused by things outside our control:

  • Normal wear and tear — surface scuffs, minor fading from sun exposure, slight softening over years of use
  • Staining — food, juice, markers, bodily fluids, etc. (see our Cleaning & Care Guide for spot-cleaning tips)
  • Pet damage — chewing, scratching, urine, or any pet-related wear
  • Machine-washing damage — our covers are spot-clean and hand-wash only; machine washing voids this warranty
  • Chemical damage — bleach, ammonia, harsh solvents, or any cleaner not approved in our Care Guide
  • Misuse — outdoor use, use as a mattress, use on stairs, use as a gym mat for adults, or any use outside intended indoor floor play
  • Unauthorized repairs or modifications — including third-party alterations, custom patches, or glued repairs
  • Cosmetic issues that don't affect function — minor print alignment variation, tiny surface marks, or natural foam variation
  • Damage during shipping after delivery — if you move the mat and it gets damaged, that's not covered (damage during our shipping to you is — contact us within 7 days of delivery)
  • Acts of nature — floods, fires, etc.

How to Submit a Warranty Claim

Filing a claim is simple. Email us at hello@pocokoko.com with the following:

  1. Your order number (from your Poco Koko, Amazon, or retailer order confirmation)
  2. Clear photos of the issue — at least 3 photos showing the defect from different angles, plus one wide shot of the full mat
  3. A brief description of what happened and when you first noticed it
  4. Your shipping address (so we can send a replacement if approved)

Subject line suggestion: Warranty Claim — Order #[your number]

The clearer your photos and description, the faster we can help. If we need more information, we'll reach out.

Our Response Timeline

We respond to all warranty claims within 3-5 business days. If your claim is approved, we'll ship the remedy within 5-7 business days after approval. Complex cases (requiring additional inspection or photos) may take a few extra days — we'll keep you updated throughout.

Remedies

If your claim is approved, we'll provide one of the following, at our discretion:

  • Repair — when the issue can be fixed and the mat restored to full function
  • Replacement — a new mat of the same model (or closest equivalent if yours is discontinued)
  • Store credit — equivalent retail value, applied to a future Poco Koko purchase

We choose the remedy that best fits the situation. In most cases, we replace — because we know you want your mat back in use fast.

Purchased from Amazon or Another Retailer?

We proudly sell through multiple channels, and our warranty still applies to Poco Koko mats no matter where you bought them. However, here's how to get the fastest resolution:

  • If you bought within the retailer's return window (typically 30 days on Amazon) — please start with the retailer. They can often issue a refund or exchange faster than we can ship a warranty replacement.
  • If you're past the retailer's window, or the retailer denies your claim — contact us directly at hello@pocokoko.com. We'll honor our manufacturing-defect warranty regardless of point of sale, as long as you can provide proof of purchase.

Transferability

This warranty covers the original purchaser only. If you received a Poco Koko mat as a gift, the original buyer's order number still applies — we can look it up on our end if needed.

Limitation of Liability

Our warranty covers the product itself — repair, replacement, or store credit as described above. We aren't liable for indirect costs like floor damage, shipping charges on non-defective returns, or loss of use. Your legal rights under US consumer protection law are not affected by this warranty; this is an additional promise on top of those rights.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to register my mat for the warranty to apply?
A: No registration needed. Your order number (from pocokoko.com, Amazon, or another retailer) is your proof of purchase. Just keep it somewhere you can find it — a screenshot or email works fine.

Q: My mat has a small surface scuff after 6 months. Is that covered?
A: Cosmetic wear from normal use isn't covered, but if the scuff is actually a layer separating or a seam opening, that's a manufacturing defect and we'd love to see photos at hello@pocokoko.com.

Q: My toddler spilled juice and now there's a stain. What can I do?
A: Staining isn't a warranty issue, but our Cleaning & Care Guide has detailed spot-cleaning instructions that work on most common spills. The cover is spot-clean and hand-wash only — please don't machine-wash, as that will void the warranty.

Q: Our puppy chewed the corner. Can I get a replacement?
A: Pet damage isn't covered under warranty, unfortunately. However, we occasionally offer replacement-cover pricing for loyal customers in this situation — email us and we'll see what we can do.

Q: I bought my mat on Amazon 3 months ago and the zipper just failed. Who do I contact?
A: Amazon's return window is typically 30 days, so you're past that. Email us at hello@pocokoko.com with your Amazon order number and photos of the zipper — this sounds like a manufacturing defect and we'll take care of it.
