Materials & Safety

What is Poco Koko made of?
Our play mat has three layers: a soft microsuede top cover (OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified), 1.3 inches of CertiPUR-US certified memory foam in the middle, and a non-slip backing on the bottom. No PVC. No EVA. No chemical smell.

Is it safe for newborns?
Yes. Our mat is tested to CPSIA, ASTM F963-23, and Prop 65 standards. The foam is CertiPUR-US certified and the fabric is OEKO-TEX certified. It's safe for supervised tummy time from day one.

Does it have a chemical smell?
Minimal to none. Our foam is CertiPUR-US certified for low VOC emissions. Some customers notice a faint scent when first unrolling — this is normal and dissipates within 24–48 hours in a ventilated room. It is not harmful.

Where is Poco Koko made?
Our mats are manufactured in China, in a facility that holds Costco and Disney production certifications, using materials tested by independent U.S. and European labs. Every batch is inspected before shipping.

Size & Thickness

How thick is it really?
1.3 inches (33 mm) of slow-rebound memory foam. That's about 3x thicker than most play mats on the market. Press your hand into it and watch it slowly bounce back — that's real memory foam, not compressed EVA.

Which size should I get?
We make two sizes: 5x7 ft (60" × 84") for bedrooms, nurseries, and smaller play areas, and 6x9 ft (72" × 108") for living rooms and playrooms where you want full floor coverage. Try our Size Calculator for an exact fit.

How long does it take to fully expand?
Our mats are vacuum-packed for shipping. After unrolling, allow 3–7 days for the memory foam to fully expand to its 1.3-inch thickness. Tip: a warm room speeds up the process.

Care & Cleaning

How do I clean it?
Wipe the surface with a damp cloth — spills bead up on the microsuede and won't soak in. For deeper cleaning, use a mild soap solution. Do not machine wash or submerge in water. Full instructions in our Cleaning & Care Guide.

Why does it cost more than a $40 mat?
Because that's what it costs to use CertiPUR-US certified foam, OEKO-TEX certified fabrics, and five safety certifications — without cutting corners. You can find play mats for $40. You can also find mats that pass five independent safety tests, feel like a cloud, and look like they belong in your living room. You just can't find both at $40.
